Applications Due - Swim & Dive Assistant & Junior Coaches

The PHSC 2026 swim season is quickly approaching, and we are excited to get things rolling.
Please complete the application in the link below to be considered for an opening for the summer. Please keep in mind, we will have more applicants than we have open spots to hire. Please give us as MUCH information as you can for us to know about you. Be prepared for us to ask you questions about you, your experiences and other things at your interview so we may get to know you better.

Dates/Deadlines:
  • Deadline to submit your responses is Monday April 13th.
  • We plan to conduct interviews the week of April 20.
  • Hiring decisions will be made by April 27th.
Please note this important information:
  • Assistant Coaches MUST be age 15 by May 31, 2026 (a lifeguard certification is HIGHLY recommended).
  • Assistant Coaches are required to be at all practices and events: Daily attendance by our coaches is VITAL to the success of our swimmers. We understand that you have other activities, family plans, illness, etc. However, we do plan to implement a small pay deduction for each absence after 2 missed practices/meets. Please consider your own schedule as you make the decision to apply.
  • Assistant Coaches MUST be members of PHSC and must swim at least relay events for the team during meets (IF of eligible age).
  • Assistance Coaches must be committed to our team.
  • It is preferred that coaches have two years' experience of club level sport or equivalent school/outside activity.
  • Jr. Coaches MUST be age 13 by May 31, 2026
  • Jr. Coaches are Coaches-in-Training. This is an unpaid position.
  • Jr. Coaches are required to be at all practices and events (in the past, we have divided the Jr. Coaches into 2 groups and assign days of the week to work) and must swim on relay events (at least) for the team during meets.
  • Jr. Coaches do not need to be lifeguard certified (requirement to be LG is at least 15 years old)

  • 9:30-10:00am 6 & Younger -
    Group 1 (this group needs LITTLE/NO assistance IN the water)
  • 10:15-10:45am 6 & Younger
    Group 2 (this group needs assistance IN the water)
  • 9:30-10:15am Age Group 7 & 8
  • 10:15-11:00am Age Group 9 & 10
  • 11:00-11:45am Age Group 11 & Older

Swim Team is for youth ages 4-18 years old.

Tshirt Devliery & Tie Dye
PHSC Grass Lot

We are excited to let everyone know that we will be tie-dying our team t-shirts on Monday, June 1st, throughout the morning. The 6 and unders must dye their shirts AFTER practice, 11 and up group must dye their shirts BEFORE practice, everyone else can either come early or stay after their practice. Our goal is to be finished by 12:00.

We have organized the process to make it simple and fun for everyone. First, you will receive your family’s swim team shirts. Next, stations will be set up in sequential order and volunteers will be on site to guide swimmers through each tie dying step. Finally, we will also provide clear instructions for how to rinse and care for the shirts at home to ensure the colors turn out bright, vibrant, and long lasting!

A few important points to keep in mind:

  • Please do not wear good clothes or coverups to practice- as tie-dye can stain clothes.
  • We will have disposable gloves, although there is typically some dye that remains on skin. This will come off after an afternoon at the pool!
  • Plan to spend about 30 minutes dying your shirt.
  • Shirts will be taken home in a plastic bag and will need to be rinsed according to the instructions provided.

This is a great opportunity for swimmers to personalize their team shirts and have some fun together. We hope that as many swimmers can attend as possible, but we will dye the shirts of swimmers who can’t be there on June 1st. (Due to the extensive set up, there will not be a second opportunity to dye shirts) The shirts of folks that cannot be there on June 1st will be rinsed and passed out to swimmers during practice on June 3rd or can be picked up during practice any time after this date.

In order to make this large project happen for 200+ swimmers and coaches, WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! Full volunteer hours are from 8:30 - 12:30, but if you can’t be there this full time, we will take your help for shorter sessions as well. Your hours helping with this process will count towards your volunteer obligation. If you can help, please text Julie Armstrong at 937-901-5607 to let her know. Julie will then forward your names and hours to the volunteer coordinator. Folks experienced with tie dye are particularly encouraged to volunteer, but all are welcome as we need lots of volunteers to make this run smoothly.

Lastly– we are asking for donations of various supplies that are needed to tie dye. If you have any of the following you are willing to donate, please bring them to the pool ASAP, before June 1st.

  • Clean 5 gallon buckets (we need about 4– these will be returned to you so write your name on the buckets)
  • Plastic grocery bags (we need at least 200!)
  • Large plastic tubs for water (17ish gallon tubs with handles- these will be returned)
  • Old drink pitchers or funnels (that you are willing to part with as they will be exposed to dye.)

There will be NO SWIM TEAM IN WATER PRACTICE.  
Coaches will be helping with serving donuts & supporting photographer, organizing the group photos.

  • 10am Donuts and juice for ALL Swim & Dive team members
    • we did not plan donuts for non-swim team siblings, we are sorry!
  • 10:00-11am INDIVIDUAL Team Photos with Photographer
    • Please come with form filled out and payment ready
    • We will make a line for individual photos,
    • photographer will get to everyone, even if AFTER team photo
    • Order form is attached
  • 11am Team Photo (ALL Swim Team & Beginners)
  • 11:30am - any additional photos needed who did not arrive before the Team Photo

Your swimmers can arrive anytime between 10am  and 11am - but we ask they arrive in time for our team photo at 11am.

It will be a very BUSY morning around the pool. We will NOT allow swimmers in the pool during breakfast & photo time. The coaches will do their best to engage swimmers who are hanging around with silly games & activities; but please MONITOR YOUR SWIMMERS & SIBLINGS, we hope to have no issues but will need all the support we can get.

Julie, our resident Art Teacher Extraordinaire, will be helping us make our ur TEAM SPIRIT earrings to wear to team events and meets.  And Lindsay, one of our team moms, will offer a class for us to make our own Trucker Hats during a morning of swim practice. Parents can customize your own hat as a fun way to show our team spirit. 

This event is for parents only.

All proceeds will be donated back to the Swim Team.

In the event lightning and/or thunder occur in the vicinity of the host pool, a 20-minute delay is required. The total amount of delays will not exceed one hour for any one meet. SSA reps and coaches and/or club representatives shall determine whether a meet should be cancelled or suspended. If weather or imminent circumstances deem it necessary to stop the meet, it is considered an officially completed dual meet after event #46 (or last individual medley event).
